Explore, Experience, Express: Children's Music and Art Day

For children ages 5 - 12 years old

Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10 am - 3 pm

We’ll find all of the musical instruments and the many beautiful works of art in the Cathedral. We’ll sing, play instruments, create a work of art and experience the Erie Philharmonic’s Virtual Orchestra.

Choir School

We welcome anyone regardless of religious affiliation or background. Singers may begin as early as age 7. The ability to read words and focus attention throughout rehearsals are the only requirements. Boys may sing until voice change and girls through high school. Choristers receive professional training in vocal production and music theory all in a challenging and fun environment.

The Choir season begins with a week of Choir School. It is an intensive week of learning new music and developing individual skills. Age appropriate vocal training, learning to read music, singing melodies at sight, ear training exercises and music theory lessons are taught throughout the week at all levels by experienced instructors. The week also includes plenty of time for fun activities and good food.

In addition to learning how to sing, participation in our chorister program gives young people the opportunity to mentor younger choristers, develop leadership skills and cultivate a sense of discipline and responsibility. Service projects and community outreach are also a component of being a Cathedral Chorister.

The Chorister program is free and offers quality musical training and exceptional opportunities for performance and travel. All of this is offered within the environment of a safe, warm and welcoming community.
